Big ships.
Better crew.
The job
When a cruise ship docks, thousands of suitcases go off board and back on. We provide the crew that makes it happen.
What you do
Taking in suitcases, sorting them and bringing them to the right place, in the terminal and at the ship. It is hands-on: you are on the move all day.
With your crew
You work in a crew of people your age. On a busy day there are about 25 of you.
When
Mostly on Saturdays and Sundays: that is when most ships arrive. There are ships on weekdays too, but less often. Your day usually starts early in the morning.
This is what your shift looks like
You report at the agreed location and meet your crew. After a short briefing you get to work together on the luggage of the passengers. You help load and unload suitcases and make sure everything runs smoothly. Afterwards you share the tips and your work day is done!

You fit BlackFox Crew if you:
- are at least 16;
- like being active and physically busy;
- are reliable and on time;
- speak Dutch and/or English;
- are available this summer;
- enjoy working together with people your age.
No experience needed. A good attitude is!
Dutch is not required if your English is good enough to work together safely.
Getting there together
Live nearby? Then you come to the terminal by bike.
Live further away? Then we usually drive a few vans in the morning from pick-up points in the region. Where we pick up depends on where the crew comes from that season.
Coming with friends from the same town? Even easier: then you ride along together.
There is no travel allowance.
Questions
Who is my employer?
You are employed by our client, the company that handles the baggage, on a zero-hours contract. BlackFox finds the crew and makes the schedule. You never pay BlackFox anything.
How much do I earn?
Up to €20 an hour. Your hourly wage depends on your age and the applicable terms of employment. You hear the exact amount before you sign a contract. Any tips come on top of that.
Do I get tips?
Yes! The tips the crew receives during a work day are shared at the end of the day. Often that is about €10 to €50 extra per person per work day. The amount differs per day and is not guaranteed.
Can I apply if I don't speak Dutch?
Sure! International students are welcome. If your English is good enough to work together safely, Dutch is not required. You do need to be allowed to work in the Netherlands. Speak another language too, like German or Spanish? Then you can help passengers in their own language.
I am an international student. Can I work?
With a Dutch, EU, EEA or Swiss passport: yes, right away. With another nationality you need a residence permit, and our client has to apply for a work permit (TWV) for you. With a TWV you can work up to 16 hours a week, or full-time in June, July and August.
How often do I have to work?
That is up to you. Most ships arrive on Saturdays and Sundays, so most of the work is at weekends. For each cruise day you say whether you can work. The more days you are available, the more often we can schedule you.
How do I get to the terminal?
If you live nearby, you come by bike. If you live further away, we usually drive a few vans from pick-up points in the region. Where we pick up depends on where the crew comes from that season. There is no travel allowance.
What is a VOG?
A VOG (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, Certificate of Conduct) is a statement from the Dutch government that there is no objection to the work you will do. You handle passengers' luggage, so we ask for one. After you apply, you get an email explaining how to get it and a link to upload it.
What if I can't make it one day?
Let us know as soon as possible. Your crew counts on you. People who often don't show up get scheduled less.
