Privacy statement

We handle your data with care and ask for no more than we need. Here you can read what we keep, why and for how long. Last updated: October 2026. If this English version and the Dutch version differ, the Dutch version applies.

Who are we?

BlackFox Crew (blackfox.nl) recruits and schedules porters for the cruise ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and IJmuiden. BlackFox (including BlackFox Crew and BlackFox Shifts) is a trade name of Nova Technologies, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 95959297. Postal address: Box A2068, Keurenplein 41, 1069 CD Amsterdam. BlackFox is responsible for the data you leave on this website. Questions? Email info@blackfox.nl.

What data?

  • When you apply: name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, postcode and town, which languages you speak, whether you may work in the Netherlands (EU passport or residence permit), whether you have a driving licence, who you would like to work with, your preferred ports and transport, and if you like a motivation, a CV and how you heard about us.
  • Your VOG: the file you upload. After checking it, we delete the file and only keep the fact that your VOG was approved and on which date.
  • Already working for our client? Then we receive your name, contact details, postcode and town, date of birth and whether you have a driving licence from them. We only use this to make the schedule, on behalf of our client.
  • Scheduling: which days you are available, where you are scheduled or which day we asked you about (and your answer), whether you cancelled (late) and whether you showed up (on time, late or not at all). We also keep when you last opened your page, so we only send you a reminder when there are new days you have not seen yet.
  • Notes about your work: for example if you did not show up without letting us know, or if something happened. These notes are factual and businesslike.
  • No longer scheduling you: if we decide not to schedule you any more, we keep that decision and the reason.

We do not ask for your citizen service number (BSN), your nationality or a copy of your ID or residence permit. Our client arranges that as your employer.

What do we use it for?

  • To assess your application and contact you.
  • To send you messages about work days, so you can sign up.
  • To plan the crews. Among other things, we look at where you live (for transport to the terminal), your age (for the rules for 16 and 17 year olds), your languages and how reliable you were in earlier shifts.

The scheduling system makes a proposal. A person checks it and decides. You are never excluded from work by a computer alone.

We use your data to prepare and carry out an employment contract with our client (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). For the notes about your work, this is our legitimate interest: a safe and reliable crew (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who do we share it with?

  • Our client, the company that handles the baggage and will be your employer: your contact details, your schedule and whether your VOG was approved.
  • Netlify, which runs this website and the forms. Netlify is a US company; the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
  • Our email provider, to send you emails.
  • PDOK, the map service of the Dutch government: if you travel with the van, we use only your postcode to find the nearest pick-up point.
  • Your crew in the van: the driver sees the first names of the people they pick up, and you see the driver's first name and the van's registration number. The crew of that day also sees in the group message who gets on where.

We never sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

How long do we keep it?

  • If you apply but don't end up working with us, we delete your data within 4 weeks after the end of the season.
  • If you work in the crew, we keep your data until at most 1 year after your last work day, so we can ask you again for the next season.
  • We delete your VOG file within 4 weeks of receiving it.
  • We keep your attendance (showed up, late or did not show up), your cancellations and the notes about your work until the start of the next season (1 March). After that we delete them, so the schedule only uses recent information. A decision not to schedule you any more is kept for as long as we keep your other data.
  • The planning board keeps a log of changes to the schedule (for example "Emma scheduled" or "cancelled"). Those entries are deleted after 30 days. If you give a reason when cancelling (for example ill), it is only kept in that log and in the notification to us, not in your details.

Cookies

This website uses no trackers. Your personal page with your days works with your personal link, without cookies. Only the planning board for staff of BlackFox and our client uses one strictly necessary login cookie.

Your rights

You may view, correct or delete your data. You may also object, for example to a note about your work. Email us at info@blackfox.nl; we respond within a month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
